Family and Community Support Services (FCSS)
We celebrate with gratitude our partnerships with Town of Drumheller FCSS, Town of Hanna FCSS, Kneehill Regional FCSS and Starland Regional FCSS. They provide family support through sports, culture and leisure activities in your community as well as develops and/or supports locally driven preventive social initiatives to enhance the well-being of individuals, families and communities. They are close planning partners to our Parent LINK and provide space, funds and administrative supports.

Optometry (Vision): Eye Exams
For Alberta children 18 years old and younger (1–18), eye examinations are covered if received in Alberta. Optometry services received outside Alberta are not covered. Optometry benefits are limited to one complete exam, one partial exam, and one diagnostic procedure per benefit year (July 1 to June 30).
Eye See... Eye Learn
The Eye See…Eye Learn® is a program that provides kindergarten students with a comprehensive eye health exam from a Doctor of Optometry, which is covered by Alberta Health. If required, kindergarten students also receive a free pair of eyeglasses.The program is available to all kindergarten students in Alberta, and those students are eligible from the September they begin kindergarten to Grade One. Free glasses are provided to kindergarten students who received a prescription from a Doctor of Optometry.
Free Oral Health Care
This program offers free dental screenings and referrals for children aged 0 to 3 as well as fluoride varnish applications for eligible children 12 - 35 months of age. For more information, click HERE. In Drumheller, you can call Community Health Services 403–820–6004 and ask to speak to the Dental Hygienist for more information.
Children's Rehabilitative Services
Pediatric Social Workers review and assess referrals for children with suspected developmental delays. The social worker will provide referrals to healthcare providers, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, and Speech Language Therapists, in Children's Rehabilitation Services. The social workers will also link the family with community services as needed. The social worker is able to provide follow-up for the family as needed.
Provides grants to children and youth from low income families so they can participate in organized sport programs. Children and youth up to 18 years of age can receive up to $250 per year (January to December) to help pay for sport registration fees.

A free Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program that offers services to women and teens who need support during their pregnancy (ie. gestational diabetes or high blood pressure), or women and teens who just have difficulties making ends meet. Some of the services we offer: One to one visits with a nutritionist, support-workers and nurse, education on pre- and post-natal issues, budgeting advice, substance use info. Support for the mother does not end with the birth of the baby. Breastfeeding support, parenting support, car seat and breast pump rentals, food hampers, milk vouchers and vitamins are many of the ways we can help. Call Lisa 403–820–6000.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Avaliable at Three Hills, Carbon and Trochu library. The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your precious one starts kindergarten (repeats count!).
